the vision
It all started back when I was on the island and wanted to make a difference. I was eager to stay busy since I was nearing the end of my Drill Instructor tour. With only a few months left before I departed, I aimed to gain experience in crafting.
Browsing Instagram, I found inspiration from individuals crafting flags and stumbled upon Mr. Tim’s page, where Graham Rustic Flags began—well, I mean Graham Wood Designz.
Initially, I was fixated on naming the business solely for flag-making, but that didn’t last long, as you’ll soon see. I reached out to him, thank God for the connection despite him living in California.
Nervous but determined, I embarked on my journey. Without any power tools, I purchased my first table saw, marking the beginning of my crafting adventure.
Eventually, with the help of stimulus checks, I acquired a CNC machine, thanks to Mike’s guidance on how to operate it. As my departure drew near, I packed up the shop I had built from the ground up and embarked on a cross-country journey to California amid the peak of the COVID pandemic.
Upon arriving, I wasted no time setting up shop, eager to delve into furniture making. However, my plans took a turn when my first order arrived that was not furniture. Determined to stand out and infuse my creations with a unique twist, I continued crafting with just my CNC machine and table saw. As things were picking up traction,
I expanded my capabilities with the addition of a laser, forever altering the game for Graham Wood Designz.
